Agenda to Confront Gun Violence

Agenda to Confront Gun Violence

We have a gun violence epidemic in this country. The endless string of mass shootings are a national tragedy and shame. In New York state, we see some 3,000 shootings annually, a scourge that disproportionately affects communities of color.

The vast majority of guns involved in crimes committed in New York are illegally trafficked from out of state. I will use the Attorney General’s Tracing Analytics platform to help investigate gun trafficking, and direct the office’s Organized Crime Task Force to vigilantly and aggressively prosecute gun-traffickers.

As Attorney General, I will investigate violations of the Martin Act and deceptive practices laws by gun manufacturers and sellers that have misled investors.

As Attorney General, I won’t back down from the National Rifle Association (NRA). I will make it a priority to investigate the not-for-profit tax status of the NRA. Their ties to both the gun industry and elected officials, and most recently their connections to foreign individuals intending to influence our elections, all raise serious questions requiring investigation.

I am proud to have been designated a Mom’s Demand Action “Gun Sense Candidate.”

I am a frequent target of NRA TV, and I have an F rating from the NRA. I welcome their hate. They will not stop me from taking on those who perpetuate our gun violence crisis and work to weaken our gun safety laws.
